USM Board of Regents Committee on Economic Development Meets Jan. 25
Baltimore, Md. (Jan. 24, 2024) – The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents Committee on Economic Development and Technology Commercialization will meet at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25.

The committee will vote on the committee’s charge and a change of name. The committee will hear research and economic development updates from the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Economic Development.
Daraius Irani, vice president of strategic partnerships and applied research at Towson University, will discuss artificial intelligence (AI) emergence in Maryland and the U.S. The committee will hear an update on Irazu Oncology, a company supported by the Maryland Momentum Fund. Finally, the committee will hear updates on the USM Launch Fund and venture development. The Launch Fund connects early-stage entrepreneurs to existing resources, mentorship, and capital.
