University System of Maryland Foundation Appoints New Board Members
ADELPHI, Md.
(March 23, 2009) - The
University System of Maryland Foundation, Inc., today announced the election of
two new members to its board of directors:
John J. (Jack) Cronin, Senior Vice President of ATK; and Eric E.
McLauchlin, a shareholder in the firm of Gessner, Snee, Mahoney & Lutche,
P.A.
Cronin
has served as senior vice president of ATK, a premier aerospace and defense
company, since 2006, and currently serves as president of ATK's Mission Systems
division. A 1978 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point,
NY, Cronin served in active duty as a U.S. Army officer and helicopter pilot
for eight years. He holds a master of science degree in systems management from
the University of Southern California.
"Jack
brings a wealth of business and technology experience to the work of the USM
Foundation," said Leonard R. Raley, president of the foundation. "This is
critical as the foundation works to assist USM institutions in fulfilling their
mission to educate students and build Maryland's workforce-especially in
science and technology disciplines."
McLauchlin
practices law in diverse spheres including business structures and formation; business
sales, mergers and acquisitions; contracts; and the use and transfer of
intellectual property. He is involved with general civil and business
litigation as part of his customary practice, and also provides government relations
assistance to clients working with Harford County and its municipalities.
McLauchlin is a 1992 summa cum laude
graduate of Salisbury University and a 1995 honors graduate of the University
of Maryland School of Law. He is a member and past president of the Salisbury
University Alumni Board. He is also
chairperson of the Harford County Economic Development Advisory Board (EDAB), a
member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Harford
County Chamber of Commerce, and was appointed to Harford County's BRAC
Preparedness Advisory Commission.
